Dry Cargo Trading & Chartering

The Nigerian Chamber of Shipping in accordance with its aims and objectives strives to encourage, position and empower members, new entrants and key players in the Maritime/Shipping industry to take full advantage of opportunities created by its capacity building program.

Course Description:
Provides basic and advanced knowledge of various aspects of commercial, legal and practical shipping operations.

Course Content:

  • Introduction to World Trade: Emerging trends in global trade, Cargo types and Ship types.
  • Commercial considerations and INCOTERMS
  • Cargo description, Cargo measurements
  • Payment Methods and Letters of Credit
  • Managing risks in dry cargo trading: Insurance. etc.
  • Contract terms: The Law of Carriage of Goods by Sea (Ratification and Enforcement Act) 2005.
  • Dry cargo key documentation
  • Voyage Estimating, Laytime and Demurrage.
  • Dispute Resolution Methods

Kindly be informed that the ABC of Shipping training program will be Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) through the Zoom Application.

Participants are kindly required to download the “Zoom Application” on their respective devices (including reliable internet connection) to ensure seamless participation in the Course. Please be advised that only a limited number of spaces are available, and registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
