The Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS) as a member of the International Chamber of Shipping and an umbrella body for stakeholders in the Maritime/Shipping Industry in Nigeria, is Organizing a One-Day Women in Shipping and Maritime Conference themed:
The Future of Shipping: Weathering the Storms, Sailing High.
This conference is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5, which seeks to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
The event is primarily designed, to share insights on the on-going disruptions at the International level, especially in the post-COVID era, and identify with the International Maritime Organization (IMO)‘s strategy on these developments.
Second, as the Maritime/Shipping Industry cruises into a new era of modernization, coupled with IMO’s commitment on gender inclusivity, it has become imperative for women to position themselves to embrace the new narrative and brace up for the posing challenges of the Future of Shipping while at the same time minimizing the obvious gender gap in the industry.
